God’s Waiting Room
One of the hardest tests of faith is not persecution, not
temptation, not even suffering—it’s waiting. When God has spoken, when you
know what He has promised, and yet the days turn into years, and the years into
decades—faith is tested at its deepest level.
And here’s where we often fail: instead of simply taking God at His Word, we
reinterpret His promise. We scheme. We adjust His truth to fit our timeline. We
look for a way to help God out, as though His faithfulness needs our creativity.
Abram and Sarai found themselves right there. And the story in Genesis 15–16
shows us what happens when faith is fixed on God’s Word... and what happens
when it tries to force God’s hand.
There are many obstacles on the journey of faith but none as imposing as time.
The man who can look temptation in the eye without blinking may fold under the
passing of time.
